Email Compare is a service hosted outside the Macro app, operated entirely separately using our cloud resources in AWS.

To initiate Email Compare for your organization, please contact [email protected] with a request.

A quick breakdown: users send 2 files to a dedicated email address, and a Macro Compare is done in the cloud to produce a resultant file that is emailed back to the user — the Macro web app isn’t used at all during the process.

Hosting

Email Compare is hosted on Macro’s private VPC, with each organization having their own storage bucket within. The solution is completely off-prem and is operable on any computer or laptop with access to email.

The process is encrypted from start to finish, using both TLS 1.3 and AES 256 protocols for in-transit and at-rest encryption, respectively.

Email address

Comparisons are initiated by sending an email to compare@[FIRMDOMAIN.MACRO.COM], such as [email protected], which is established and handled on Macro’s end.

Data access

Any DOCX or PDF files attached to emails sent for comparison will be processed by Macro’s cloud systems. No employee or 3rd party vendor will have access to your files, nor any visibility into your name, contents, metadata, or otherwise.

Our access controls to these cloud resources are SOC 2 and ISO verified, which can be read upon further on the Frameworks page.

Data retention

Files are stored in Macro’s cloud for the duration of the document processing and deleted immediately after the resultant comparison is done. Logs are maintained for 7-30 days (variable upon request) after a compare for troubleshooting purposes.

Error handling

Email Compare sends error notifications via email back to the user, should an issues occur, such as an improper file type, too many documents, etc. This cannot be disabled.
