Macro stores all files uploaded to the platform via our cloud instance. Any edits made to the files are automatically stored within the cloud, not locally.

The following files are currently supported, and additional file types are being added regularly:dev

Your files are always yours, and no one at Macro or any 3rd party processor will have access to them. Macro adheres to strict access controls outlined by international compliance standards.

Macro maintains abuse monitoring exemptions from our LLM/AI provider, meaning they also cannot access, view, or train on any of your uploaded files or queries.

Document Sharing

Document sharing is done on a document-by-document basis, but organizational defaults and restrictions may be set by account administrators or by Macro upon request.

You can view the permissions for a specific document by pressing the down arrow next to the Share button in the top-right section of the app.

Files can be shared with anyone in the organization (with the same domain name), with no one, or with anyone who has the link to the document. Shared documents are not currently editable by the recipient, but they may be viewed and duplicated.

Shared files are not yet collaborative. This is a feature to be added in the near future.

Document retention

By default, files and chats are stored indefinitely while accounts are still active (they are not removed automatically or after any amount of time). However, account administrators for group/enterprise accounts may set document retention policies ranging from 30-120 days by themselves in the application, or shorter periods of time by contacting Macro. The minimum document retention time is currently 7 days.

Files can be deleted manually by each end user from the file drop down menu on the sidebar. Files deleted are permanently removed from Macro’s cloud storage, and cannot be recovered. Shared links to these files will break, and the files will disappear from other users’ workspaces.
